I am Dr Rodney Ford and I would like to help you. This page is to introduce myself to you and find out about us. I hope that you will then feel confident in letting me help you answer your food allergy | food intolerance questions. Do you want to feel well again at last? About us – Dr Rodney Ford

Dr Rodney Ford has over 30 years clinical experience as a Paediatric Gastroenterologist, Nutrition Consultant and Allergist, managing children and adults with food allergies and food intolerances. Some people call him the medical food doctor. He runs the ‘Children’s Clinic and Allergy Centre‘ in Christchurch, New Zealand. He is an accomplished author and public speaker, and a passionate advocate of food allergy and intolerance sufferers, everywhere.

“Every day in my Clinic I see children and adults who unknowingly are suffering from symptoms caused by the food they eat. My goal is to help my patients and the general public to understand the food they eat can seriously effect their health. I would like to help you with a diagnosis of gluten allergy, food intolerance and other food reactions.”

Dr Rodney Ford, qualifications, vision

Associate Professor, medical doctor, paediatrician (children’s doctor). His vision is to help parents identify children who are suffering form food-related problems.

As a child’s doctor, he sees and helps with a wide range of child health problems and illness. He investigates and helps children who have chronic health problems. Sometimes their symptoms turn out to be food intolerance, food allergies and nutritional related conditions. He fully investigates and diagnoses these sorts of problem. He is the Director of The Children’s Clinic | Allergy Centre

He is a author and professional speaker, and provides nutritional consulting services to organisations.  He gives seminars and workshops (the Energy Effect) on the value of excellent nutritional health, on food allergy, eczema and “the gluten syndrome”.

  • FRACP (Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians – in Paediatrics).

Dr Ford’s vision

“Abundant Health through conscious eating”

“Through my life of working with sick children and their caring families, I have discovered that eating right food matters.  I believe that “abundant health” can be achieved by anyone who eats the appropriate foods.

By “conscious eating” I indicate a person who understands what they are eating and why they are making specific food choices. Under these conditions they make a conscious effort to buy the appropriate foods for themselves and their family.

Appropriate foods are a combination of  “healthy choices” and also having the knowledge to avoid the foods (and additives!) that are making you unwell.”

In my vision I see

  • An increasing knowledge of food problems.
  • A broad recognition of food intolerance/allergy in the community.
  • Children (and their families) helped throughout the world.
  • Happy healthy vibrant children.
  • Children who had sore tummies and headaches, feeling better again.
  • Children who had learning and behaviour issues, getting back on track.
  • Doctors understanding that children do not need to suffer from most chronic symptoms.
  • Parents understanding that “naughty” can be a way of children expressing a problem that needs to be solved.
  • The eClinic helping millions of people back to full health.

Areas of expertise

Dr Ford sees people with on-going troublesome symptoms. These often turn out to be allergy symptoms. Dr Ford specialises in these areas:

He is an expert in food allergy and nutrition. Food allergy/ intolerance is very common – it affects one in five people.

Known as the gluten expert

It was Dr Ford who first coined the term “The Gluten Syndrome”. He says: “Most people want to know all about gluten and if it might be causing them harm. I see lots of people in my clinical consultations – but I cannot see everyone.” Because he has done so much work in this field, he is now recognised as a world expert in gluten matters. He has become the expert in gluten related disorders.

“Therefore, I have created this eClinic website so that even more people can be helped. I have also written several books based on my clinical experience, information, and my ideas. These books are based on my research. I hope that they might help you solve some of your problems.”

The projects that he has created include:
